Nara Leão has never been recognized in North America and Europe for what she was: one of the key figures of Bossa Nova and MPB. In Brasil, the Nara Leão from the sixties and the seventies enjoyed the same respect as Elis Regina and Maria Bethânia. Her understatement perfectly matches the ideals of Bossa Nova. This record proves that. It is said that Bossa Nova started at her apartment in Rio. Nara was also a rather gifted guitar player. She interpreted songs by the then unknown young and emerging artisis like Jobim, Buarque, Lobo, Gil and others, thereby helping them to step into the limelight, too.
