Sandra Ann Goodrich, aka Sandie Shaw, was one of the most successful British female singers of the 1960s. With her hair, slender frame, model cheekbones and outfits, she has been described as the ultimate working-class 'it' girl. She was also notable for her quirk of usually appearing barefoot. After being discovered by Adam Faith, she began her recording career at the age of 17, and only three years later, in 1967, she won the Eurovision Song Contest with "Puppet On A String" (a song she hated, but now says: «It is a song which has been the source of much grief, hilarity, circumspection and I have to admit, financial reward for many years.»).
