The UK’s most successful classical singer, Katherine Jenkins, celebrates some of the most iconic moments in the history of film with her new album "Cinema Paradiso". Only ever dipped in and out of Katherine’s work - certainly she can sing, but perhaps a little too mainstream for my tastes. But this album is fantastic. I did fear the ‘movie’ theme would be a little cliché, but it is an unusual, unexpected collection (that I would say is not too obviously ‘movie’, despite me being a huge movie fan - which is the great strength of the album). And Luke Evans gets to duet on "Tonight" - another incredible voice! Became aware of the new album when track "Here's To The Heroes" was played on radio and TV, and at first thought a bit cheesy and twee, but on further listening is incredibly powerful bringing a dampness to the eye! She has said on interview that when recorded it was a general ‘military’ feel, but has taken on a greater meaning in the current climate, celebrating the NHS and keyworkers. As others had said, her best album yet, certainly worth a place in any collection. And a great cover photo. (in Amazon)
