Sem as pessoas que, pacientemente, escolheram os seus favoritos e fizeram assim as suas listas pessoais tal não teria sido possível. Um muito obrigado, portanto! 1967 foi, ninguém hoje o duvida, um ano chave na música popular anglo-americana. A filosofia emergente do “Flower Power” levou grande parte da juventude a libertar-se das teias da sociedade convencional e a fazer o que muito bem lhe dava na gana, assumindo novos comportamentos e ideias. Inevitavelmente, tal explosão nos usos e costumes da época seria feita também através da música. E que música, como a seguir se irá recordar. Começando pelos albuns, houve 34 votantes e foram referidos 161 títulos diferentes, dos quais 25 não foram aceites por terem sido editados em outros anos, ou por não conterem música anglo-americana ou simplesmente por se tratar de coletâneas e não de albuns originais (todas estas premissas tinham sido definidas à partida). Dos 136 albuns restantes aqui fica a classificação final dos 50 mais votados:

Se o “Sgt. Pepper’s” foi logo desde o início um vencedor antecipado, já para os dois lugares imediatos do pódio a luta foi extremamente renhida, acabando os Moody Blues por assegurar o segundo posto com uma diferença mínima de 7 pontos. De qualquer modo, esta trilogia eleita pelos amigos do Rato liderou sempre o pelotão da frente, não havendo qualquer dúvida de que são os albuns mais apreciados. Comparativamente com as tabelas dos albuns mais vendidos em todo o mundo, os albuns dos Beatles e do Hendrix também figuram no trio da frente, sendo no entanto o 2º lugar ocupado pelo album de estreia dos Doors (aqui em 5º lugar), com o album dos Moody Blues a ocupar o 16º lugar.
If “Sgt. Pepper’s” was from the beginning an antecipate winner, the fight for the next two podium places was extremely fierce, ending the Moody Blues to confirm the second position with just a 7 points advantage. Anyway, this trilogy elected by Rato’s friends was always leading the race, and there is no doubt they are the most appreciated albums. Looking to the best selling album charts in the world, you can realize that the Beatles and Hendrix’s albums are also among the first three, being the second place the Doors debut (here on fifth), with the Moody Blues album placed on 16th.

Tal como nos albuns, o tema vencedor do ano de 1967 é o mesmo que lidera as tabelas dos singles mais vendidos em todo o mundo. Algo, portanto, que se mantém inalterável há 40 anos. Quando apareceu pela 1ª vez no Reino Unido, em Junho de 1967, e apesar de uma letra um tanto ou quanto incompreensível (um conjunto de frases abstractas tiradas de um poema de Keith Reid sobre o relacionamento de dois adolescentes, o que de certa maneira se enquadrava bem no psicadelismo da altura), “A Whiter Shade Of Pale” alcançou de imediato o topo das tabelas inglesas, onde se manteve durante 5 semanas consecutivas (nas tabelas americanas não foi além do Top5).

First of all a Merry Christmas to all of you. And secondly... of course we accept that some albums/songs for Rato's Best of 67 list cannot be accepted because of their release date. But we hope you keep in mind that we're talking about the sixties, which was a time that releases not yet were done worldwide at the same time but often depended on having succes or not in their homecountry... So some albums that were released in e.g. 1966 in the States, only came to Europe in 1967...
Yes herm, your're right, and the opposite is also true, some british releases from 1966 only arrived in America in 1967. But we must have provided a criteria to do a poll like this one and that criteria was the year of original release being 1967, independently of the country.
So, with that in mind, don't forget to vote, my friend: you have still a whole week to do it. How many more the better!

Just some notes:
- The Beatles "Magical Mystery Tour" album will be not accepted because it is a compilation of british singles. The same applies to Rolling Stones' "Flowers" and "Farewell To The First Golden Era" by The Mamas and Papas. And some other albums that you have mentioned are not from 1967. Like Paul Revere & The Raiders' "The Spirit of 67" (1966),Taj Mahal's "The Blues" (1968), The Byrds' "Notorius Byrd Brothers" (1968) and The Bee Gees' "Cucumber Castle" (1970).
The same with the songs: some of them have been rejected because they were not edited in 1967. Like, for example, The Easybeats's "Friday On My Mind" (1966), Tom Jones's "Green, Green Grass Of Home" (1966), Bobby Darin's "If I Were A Carpenter" (1966), Royal Guardsmen's "Snoopy Vs. The Red Baron" (1966), Sonny and Cher'S "The Beat Goes On" (1966), David McWilliams' "Days of Pearly Spencer" (1966), Dusty Springfield's "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me" (1966)and some other more.
But those titles are only a very small part of the many items you have mentioned until now. So keep sending your lists to Rato Records to see which will be the winners of this exciting race. Remember, you have until December 31 to do it, and it's the only way to get later the double-CD with the 40 songs most voted.

Parabéns, Rato, pelo teu trabalho! É uma lista bastante ecléctica! Que pena que no duplo CD não caibam 50 faixas, para terminar com essa pérola de 1967 que é o "Alone Again Or", dos Love!
A ideia inicial foi sempre os 40 temas, quer pela efeméride (40 anos) quer pelas listagens solicitadas a cada um. De qualquer modo seria problemático (senão mesmo impossível) conseguir meter 25 temas em cada CD, dada a extensão de algumas das faixas: "A Day In The Life", "Nights In White Satin" ou "Light My Fire", por exemplo. E ainda por cima a 41ª seria "The End", com cerca de 12 minutos.
Seja como fôr, e olhando para a listagem dos 40 temas (na verdade muito eclética conforme dizes), julgo que o duplo CD ficará bem representativo de 1967 e talvez as gerações vindouras o usem para mostrarem aos seus descendentes que tipo de música se ouvia naquele ano.
Mas que trabalho de Hércules, meu amigo Rato! Na verdade só uma grande paixão pela música (e tempo, é claro, e tempo...) te poderia levar a uma empreitada destas. Evidentemente que os grandes beneficiados somos todos nós que já não conseguimos passar um dia sem visitar esta tua acolhedora casa. Vejo que colocaste um contador no passado dia de Natal. Passados 8 dias, mais de 16.000 visitas, uma média de 2.000/dia. É obra!
UM 2008 EM GRANDE! Até porque já ouvi dizer, não sei aonde, que este ano é o ANO DO RATO!!!
Boas! A listagem corresponde a um gosto generalizado e massificado com enfoque especial no pop-rock, o que se aceita. Porém, com o devido respeito, ,atrevo-me a dizer que há um LP na lista que não devia estar na posição em que está. Refiro-me ao 32º lugar , Francis Albert Sinatra & Antonio Carlos Jobim. Neste disco juntaram-se a melhor voz ligeira do século XX(Sinatra), com três dos melhores compositores de sempre (Tom Jobim ,Cole Porter e Irving Berlin) e é aqui que a recém-nascida Bossa Nova deixa o seu quintal do Brasil para se tornar universal. Se não bastasse isto ainda temos que parte deste disco é cantado em bom português com poesia de Vinicius de Morais. Chega? Ainda temos os soberbos arranjos de Claus Ogerman . Que me perdoem Lennon & Mccartney, Stones e Dylan, mas as melodias deste disco vão perdurar mais no tempo como um fenómeno singular , universal e intemporal em vez do catálogo rock e pop que apesar de bom já se encontra moribundo de tanto uso e já pouca originalidade. Quanto ao melhor Blog de música, … só pode ser um : RATO RECORDS FOREVER!
