The Very Best Of THE BEATLES (1961-1963)

RATO,

Great post and thank you once more but I cannot believe it. How could you cut the collection short and leave off 'Don't Bother Me' (my personal favourite early Beatles song), 'It Won't Be Long' (a great opening album track), 'I Wanna Be Your Man' (the most important Beatles song covered by another band), 'Money' and 'Please Mr Postman' (one of 3 Motown songs on the album) but include possibly the weakest and most out of place track on the album that being 'Devil In Her Heart'?

Not only was With The Beatles the album that introduced them to the world but in many ways it is a far more accomplished (and more important) beat album than 'Please Please Me' and is arguably the seminal beat album. Unlike Please Please Me it dispenses with the throwback rock n'roll and teen boy influences heard in Please Please Me and announces the beat, R&B, mod and freakbeat that was to dominate popular music pretty much until Sergeant Peppers. In featuring 3 Motown songs and giving the label widescale UK coverage to the label before Motown had charted in the UK (My Guy was the first in 1964)the Beatles arguably blazed the trail for Berry Gordy and of course it included the song that introduced the Rolling Stones to the UK top twenty. 'With the Beatles' was a watershed album in many ways and deserves to be fully explored

You should make it a 40 track collection! Obrigado!

This collection is just on the beginning, please be patient, my friend.
Nevertheless it is just a "collection" of songs, those I personally consider the very best of The Beatles. And I also love the "With the Beatles" album, as ALL the others.
Kindly regards.

This is all in mono. What a pity! The Hamburg recordings for example sound fantastic in stereo. Is there a chance that you will issue a stereo collection?

Until 1964 "Beatles For Sale" I prefer the mono recordings, because the "stereo" versions are poor, with the voices only on the right channel. I have both versions of all Beatles songs but I will not issue the stereo versions of the first years, because they are fake versions. Sorry, Stefan...

Nice collections. And I agree Brother Rat, the early stuff usually sounds best in mono.
