The GEORGE BAKER SELECTION Debut Album

Original released on LP Negram NELS 551
(NETHERLANDS, 1970)

He had a hit with the title song, but for most latter-day pop listeners, the George Baker Selection is known for that song because it provided an oddly appropriate opening salvo for Quentin Tarantino's classic "Reservoir Dogs". For most listeners of the early '70s and the early '90s, the best way to hear the GBS is to just listen to those three minutes of magic, but if you find that song endlessly listenable, then "Little Green Bag" is a pretty fun listen. And it's a bit weirder than expected too, displaying a bizarre Europop vibe that keeps it interesting decades after its original release. No, there's nothing here that's nearly as good as the title track, but, as an artifact, it has its merits. (Stephen Erlewine in AllMusic)
