DONOVAN (DONOVAN, 1977)
Original Releases on LP:
US (August 1977): Arista AB 4143
UK (October 1977): Rak SRAK 528
This is an attempted comeback album, again produced by Mickie Most, with Donovan abandoning the dreamy folk-rock he usually offered for slick studio pop. The idea followed a chance meeting between the two men. «We just decided that maybe we could do an LP together, but the difference this time was I worked with session musicians in the studio which was something I had never done before,» Donovan says. «In fact it was an experience quite new for us both – neither of us are used to working with live bands. I’m quite happy with the results although the album does seem to be going down better in Europe than in the US.»

This is the fourteenth studio album from the Scottish singer and the songs are rather interesting, featuring a “new” sound for Donovan’s fans. The track order here is the one of the original US release (in the UK the album was presented with a different one).
