I discovered Evinha only recently. She was a contemporary of Claudia on the Odeon label in Brazil, and thus her albums have similar arrangements. Evinha went on to form the Trio Esperança, but it was with this album that she recorded what I think was her first big hit, "Casaco Marron". This beautiful and tender ballad opens the album. The whole thing is very pleasant, with a couple of lesser-known Marcos Valle/Paulo Sergio Valle tracks thrown in as well. Evinha's voice is not particularly strong, but it has a kind of vulnerable sound to it that appeals to me. The backings and orchestrations are superb. Probably the grooviest track is "Vou Seguindo", but the whole album is a winner. (in Musical Taste)

Evinha was just a kid when enjoyed a big success as part of Trio Esperança on naïve Jovem Guarda. After that she was turned solo and to adult post-bossa nova of late 60s. Evinha won one edition of Festival da Canção do Rio de Janeiro with “Canção Para Luciana”, her first big hit solo. Then came some other hits such as “Teletema”, “Casaco Marrom” and (my personal favorite) “Que Bandeira”. This and her other 2 next albums are examples of very fine Brazilian music, with songs written by Nonato Buzar, Marcos Valle, Antonio Adolfo, Tibério Gaspar, Mariozinho Rocha and many others. Come on people, let’s forget those same Jobim’s songs! They need A REST, for God’s sack!
Thanks refer, for your useful contribution here.
I forgot to say that I agree with the end of your comment. Jobim's classics are great but indeed they need a rest, hehehe... Specially for those who only associates Brazil's music to those songs. And Gosh! How Brazilian's music is rich and different!
