CHET ATKINS: "TEENSVILLE"

Original Released on LP RCA 27168
(US, 1960)

As the title indicates, "Teensville" is Chet Atkins' attempt to cut a record that appealed to the teenage audience weaned on rock & roll. Though he records a fair amount of rock, rockabilly, R&B, and country songs — and the Everly Brothers, who he produced, wrote the line notes — he never captures the raw spark of rock & roll. What shines through is Atkins' understated elegance. All of the numbers are arranged as pop instrumentals and his guitar playing is so tasteful that it makes the half-hearted execution almost forgiveable (Stephen Thomas Erlewine in Allmusic)

Yes, this is some great stuff. One of my favorites from Chet. I posted it some months ago myself but I rediscovered it recently on my way to the beach... :o)

It's such a pleasure to listen to what you compile with such care and obvious love: Your choice of material, its sequence, the amazing quality of your transfers! How do you achieve all that?... I own some 1500 LP records, 4/5th of which are classical music, and I have no idea how to properly digitize them -- avoiding cracks, ticks and surface noise but still retaining the full audio-spectrum. Would you terribly mind to post any [ANY] suggestions for your devoted/devouring followers? (PS_ Unless you are somehow connected to that super-pro HC... for then we're all far behind your league!)
